LB,

regarding stretching, there is one school of thought - really only one guy I am aware of, who says stretching is a bad idea. His name is Fred Hahn and he has a good work out book for strength training. He posts every once in a while on Dr. Eades blog (in comments section). I have his book. I can give you highlights, if you are interested (since you are starting to work out). His routine is very time efficient - probably least time per result, but it really needs great determination during the short time of the workout...

Joe

age 74!, wow, thats dedication, I am doing this at 48. I started at 47 when the cardiologist told me I was ripe for statins if I didnt lose 10 lbs and get my cholesterol below 200, it was 297, but I had 4 hard boiled eggs the day before, not knowing i would be checked for blood levels,

anyway, I am now comfortable at 172 lbs, 32 inch waist again, down from 207 and 36 waist in June 2007 when the fun began.

I also have a wife with metastatic breast cancer which after 15 months of treatment appears under control and out of her spine, but still in the femur,

this caused us both to dramatically change the way we eat, drink, etc. so you could say i was super motivated at my young age to make changes, and fast ones
