To be fair, many smartphones have the functionality of a PDA but can place calls also. In fact, WinMobile is an extension of WinCE which was the OS of choice for most PDA manufacturers. Linux was used on some others and Symbian was developed for Psion's PDAs. That covers all the OS's currently used in smartphones.
