Downey is great, Heath Ledger was great. Philip Seymour Hoffman is great. John Turturro is great. Tommy Lee Jones is great. Denzel Washington is great. Johnny Depp is great. The knock I have agains Cruise is exactly what Bentway fingered: He doesn't lose himself in the role. A Few Good Men was OK, but I'd say it was despite Cruise instead of because of him. The list of mediocre movies he was in is very, very long, OTOH...... The same can be said of Will Smith, Matt Damon and Keanu Reeves, IMO..... Nicholas Cage used to be great, but lately he just "mails it in".....
