Why?

Because when you're paying someone millions of dollars a year, which you have to pay a CEO of a multinational corporation, his time is valuable and you don't waste it with him sitting in airports.

Multiple reasons but start with the fact that a CEO to run a company like one of the Big 3 will cost at a minimum $7,500/hour (usually far more).

Well, you've made the problem very clear. These guys truly are overpaid. Reduce their pay and there won't be the need for corporate jets because first class on the airlines will do just fine.

All those arguments are self-serving crap. As Ten said, the CEO of INTEL flies commercial, because he doesn't want to come off as an entitled asshole wasting investors money for his perks.

So do many, many others. Private jets are part of the diseased, greedy American CEO culture.

If it takes two hours on each end to get through the airport, that costs you $30,000. If flying from Detroit to Houston requires a stop in Dallas, that's going to cost you thousands more. And sometimes he needs to get somewhere today and get back for work in Detroit later the same day.

They said tonite on the news it costs $20k per hour to operate the average corporate jet. In your example above, its very likely the private jet would cost far more than the commercial flight......at least on average. In fact, its an expensive perk......one that needs to go.
