This is a must read and the implications could be enormous.

"We intend on building a multi-Billion dollar buisness very quickly"

Now how on earth are they going to move data quickly from that storage media?

This is exciting stuff. Everyone should read the entire text. I've included some excerpts below. The message is exciting. This private company TeraStor is potentially sitting on some new storage technology which will grow exponentially. Having their COO on Ancor's board tells me that they see synergy between the two companies which can bring products to the marketplace unmatched by anything out there.

<<<The new technology is based on something called Near Field Recording (NFR) that combines elements of magnetic disk and
magneto-optical techniques. >>>

<<<In 1998, for example, disk drives will be able to store 2 gigabits/inch2, while Terastor will be delivering
20 Gbits/inch2. In 2005, disk drive makers will be topping out at about 40 to 50 Gbits/inch2 while Terastor expects to be up
to 500 Gbits/inch2. >>>

<<<A disk-drive pioneer, McCoy, 50, was a co-founder of Quantum and Maxtor Corp., San Jose, both billion-dollar players in the mass storage business. McCoy has already raised about $50 million from venture capitalists and equity partners; Quantum has a 15% equity stake in the company.

The challenge for Terastor now is to sign up enough partners in the next few months to co-develop, produce and test components, subassemblies and finished product in time for an early-1998 launch. "We intend to build a multi-billion dollar business very fast," says Chief Operating Officer Amyl Ahola. >>>
