Of things Yankee-like, I've always held this theory that the reason why the Yankees always did so well over the most of the last century was because of their home field advantage -- that New York City bars traditionally closed around four am as opposed to bars in other cities traditionally closing between one and two am. To me, this means the opposing teams had their after-hour parties after the four am bar close time, thus weakening their next game's performance and inherently producing a Yankee winning record season after season since the Yankees were more familiar with the drinking, etc. schedule.
