However, there are a lot of people who would buy the big three but are not buying them now if the quality factor was the equivalent of TM or Honda.

They make a lot of vehicles that are as good or better than a lot of Japanese vehicles. This is a couple of years old but you get the point. (EDIT: Sorry title didn't transfer... it's number of problems per 100 vehices)
