It's true that free atmospheric oxygen is a by-product which causes serious oxidation problems such as rust, damaged polymers [especially in sun light] and even fires which can be very destructive if people do dumb things like building houses in the middle of forests [or on the edge of them], but oxygen can also be useful such as in oxy-acetylene torches and even breathing [but too much is bad]. With higher atmospheric oxygen levels, athletes could break Olympic Games records!
