All of the above imo. For I haven't heard of an alchemist yet that can turn lead or any other basic element for that matter into gold.... :)

And people have tried throughout the ages..

As I haven't known, unless I have been out of the loop too long, where one can change a basic element of the periodic table into something else.. ie.. Pb into Au..

Now for diamonds, that's a whole different matter.. As long as there is a lump of coal in your stocking, all you have to do is find or make a high temperature/pressure system and you can have all the diamonds you want as BOTH coal and diamonds land under the big "C" , carbon.. :)
