Getting into Hollywood - It really helps if you went to a High School roughly on the West side of Los Angeles - Santa Monica High, Pacific Palisades, Melrose High, and Beverly Hills High of course. Then you best bud is the gofer for the assistant director, your girlfirend's older brother who is a writter has you drop by to run some lines with some of his friends, etc. etc. College actually seems to be less of a factor.

Not to even mention your parents, friends parents, etc.

Not that this is really news, but Hollywood seems a bit more closed than say Silicon Valley.

I'm sure there are exceptions that prove the rule. I have a lot of film actors in my family and a lot of friends who work in the industry so it's not like I don't have direct experience. For the most part the people who flock to Hollywood and who would stop to stand in line to talk to Jay Leno on a street corner aren't going to be successful in Hollywood.
