The government should NOT be in the business of imposing standards that put us in a subordinate economic position to the rest of the world. Agree 100%. So then why do we subsidize the oil industry and why do we run such large deficits? Why did Republicans turn their backs on fiscal conservatism under Bush? You'd expect that of the Democrats, but not the Republicans. I'll tell you, I know many Republicans that are sick to their stomachs because of that one issue, more than any other. You can count me among them.
