Thank you it was. Our youngest son and his wife had the whole house decorated and his steaks were wonderful.

We have usually stayed home, but some close friends who were married four years ago on New Year's Eve have invited us out to their Country Club for dinner and dancing to celebrate their Anniversary and New Year's Being that he is 90 and she is 62, we are not planning to stay long and all will probably be going home way before midnight.<gg>

In year's past, I have usually popped pop corn and we have our Dr. Peppers and have watched the ball come down in New York and then gone to bed. We decided it was safer that way for us as we being older folks don't need to be on the road with those that have consumed too much alcohol. Don't want to be a victim of a drunk driver. We just had a wife and husband killed here by a drunk driver a couple days ago and they are being buried on Tuesday. Really sad as they were so young and had so much more of life to live. Their relatives and neighbors are grieving over their lives being snuffed out by a drunk driver. Mother's Against Drunk Drivers jumped on this news event and are issuing pleas to those that party and consume alcohol to have a responsible driver take them home. They have a big campaign going on here because of this. We are a large city so we will probably have many bad crashes this New Year's.

Our city just finished the new I-10 Highway West close in and out of the city. It is the largest freeway of its kind in the United States. It has twelve lanes across and feeder streets on each side and two HOV lanes coming in and going out at the same time. A car has to have two or more people to use it and if you don't and are caught a big fine has to be paid. It is really nice and being our daughter lives about 69 miles from us she says it has cut her time coming in by about thirty minutes and she loves it.
