They are saying that anyplace between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered "normal." For you, that means from 133 lbs to 178 lbs. That's a 43 pound spead to account for gender and bone&muscle structure. And just where you "feel good." The BMI is a "guesstimate," of course. As are all weight rules.

To get closer in estimating, you could go to your body fat percentage. Most expects say that the max fat for a fit person should be male, 17%, female 24%. The exact ways to measure this are with an electric calculator or in water. The rough way is to use calculations like this. Calculator

This rough scale shows me at 34% body fat. This means my extra fat over 17% is 38 pounds. I want to lose 35 more, so that obviously means I will still be past "fit" fat. But at 190 I will be down 65 pounds from the first of this year, and at a 24.1 BMI. At age 74, I probably will be willing to live with 20 to 25 percent.

I will be getting an electrical measurement with my Kaiser membership in "24 HOUR FITNESS" next week and I will post it when I get it.

24 is the high end of what is considered "normal" weight. At that BMI, plenty of meat remains on the bones.
