It's perfectly okay if Hamas rains missiles indiscriminately down on Israeli cities, it seems.

No, its not perfectly okay. I don't see either side being in the right. Their behavior is one level up from kids street fighting.

And yet when Israel responds, people are shocked (shocked!) that they might actually defend themselves.

Shocked only because the level of destruction is so much greater. Sure Hamas sends rockets over to Israel that terrorize the people but they do little physical damage. Meanwhile, Israel fires back and the death toll and destruction is significant. And the people are terrorized as well. I would have little to do with relatives or friends who fought at this level so why are we so committed to trying to stop the unstoppable?

Um, Gaza has been blockaded by Israel for about 2-years. There are about 19 items allowed into Gaza by the Israeli authorities.

If someone blockaded me and forced me into living without fuel, electricity, food, medicine, and most items deemed necessary for sustinance, I'd shell them constantly too.

This is nothing more than collective punishment on a grand scale. I am not absolving Hamas for thier role in this situation, but all Israel is doing is making new recruits for Hamas.

Israel has come close to re-creating the Warsaw Ghetto from WWII right next door to it. The irony should be something that brings pause.

I just look at the body counts, Otter. (I'm a Vietnam-era American) ONE Israeli, 300 Pals. Often, as far as "provocation" goes, we're totally in the dark as to Israeli provocation of Pals, as they have a lock on the news from there most times.

Do you think THIS constitutes "provocation"?

The West Bank has a metastasizing cancer called Israel.
