Mangini got himself fired. I thought the guy and the play calling were awful all year. Punts instead of rekicking field goals because of 5 yard penalties and such. Not good. With that said Favre was never going to be a solution there IMO and I was a bit surprised they thought he would be. I mean 2 years tops but most likely 1 year. Not enough time to get on the same page with receivers so his effectiveness was never going to be what it would have been in GB. If he doesn't retire he will be released I have little doubt. Edit: The only firing I see announced is the Lions firing their incompetent coach.
