The US can print money. We are in a unique situation like that. The US will not collapse. Our debt to GDP is only 1/2 of Japans. I think-lol.

The auto bail out was essential if only as a stimulous package. Even if we have to subsidize them it will be cheaper than letting them fail and lose 3 million jobs and the collateral damage to our economic system. Obama can then force them to go green. We will probably have inflation and a weaker dollar, but the US will survive.

The best argument I have heard for the auto bailout is that it is a lot easier to keep 3 million people working than to create 3 million new jobs.

Our problem is not just liquidity, it is primarily insolvancey. We need to inject as much money into the system as fast as possible to avoid total disintegration.
