The Klan hasn't been in the Democrats column for a long time. No, nor in the Republicans. The Left's all-time-favorite liberal, Jefferson, while drafting the Declaration of Independence, acknowledged the wrongness of slavery - in 1776 -- yet, he kept his slaves until he was forced to sell them to raise money in the 1820s. Even then, rather than freeing them, he sold them. While the Democrats did a great job of morphing their party away from racism, the cold, hard reality is that the two are inextricably linked, forever.
