Agreed. The long global record of sub-par results from government owned enterprises, outdistances the occasional examples of successes. (I believe the key to minimizing the potential disadvantages is to have a clear plan and path toward selling off the gvt. stakes. Reprivatizing, at a profit is at all possible.)
