Circuit design really is nothing more than sophisticated programming, BTW. Not too much different from the kind of computer science used for software. Even the analog portions of the chip model the physics of signal transmission into digital representations.

Well, we had a group in our embedded systems SOC team that did what we called "circuit" design. In effect they did transistor level custom "circuits", that is separate from the available device libraries in the technology node...hence my reference.
