"And Robert Byrd identifies himself as a Democrat."

And Byrd repudiated his Klan ties a long time ago.

David Duke has not.

Your point?

My point was exactly what I indicated.

That the Democrats continued to accept Byrd and his racism, while the Republicans refused to accept Duke and his.

Anyone can "identify" themselves as a Republican or Democrat. But the question is whether the party accepts that person and his/her beliefs. The Republican party did NOT accept David Duke. The Democrat Party DID accept Byrd and even held him up as an example.
