No way he wasn't a con man. Honestly going busto is allowed (and apparently encouraged by the powers that be, judging from their eagerness to bail out bad gambling on da street lately). Fraud/Ponzi is not allowed, not encouraged and guaranteed to result in problems if caught. Madoff was not naive. If he was not guilty he would not have confessed, and would have done everything humanly possible to fight it.


What I meant was given his history and background, you wouldn't expect him to be a con man. Dang! He looks like a cross between someone's loving grandfather and Santa Claus. However, as we all know, appearances can be deceiving.
