Yeah, of course a large swath of Americans, including most the RE profession didn't see anything wrong with 10-20% annual housing "appreciation" into the indefinite future either, and plenty of those people "cashed out" early via the MEW extractions over the last several years, only to find out that the law of gravity is reaching back a few years to smack them anyway. Most unfair I'm sure.
