I've got the Consumer Reports from last April right in front of me and I'm looking at their "Best of the Best" in used cars from 1998 to 2007 and they only have 3 U.S. cars in that list.

Buick LaCrosse

Lincoln Continental

Lincoln Town Car

They also have the Pontiac Vibe, but that's only because the engine and drive train are manufactured by the Japanese.

There are over 50 other cars listed, but no others manufactured by U.S. companies.

My Wife and I drive a Corolla and a Civic.

Not sure if you noticed, but I am seeing a noticeable increase of ads on TV by GM. They seem to be pushing the CTS, Malibu and a new crossover SUV...look like nice cars. The ads could be sexier, but overall an encouraging trend. The three cars mentioned have the look and feel of good product...the kind of stuff they need to do across the board. They need to be obsessive about perfection of design and execution...or death will surely follow.
