Look at it this way. Green energy cost 2x - 5x current price.

Your premise is wrong. Thin solar has about reached grid parity, and concentrated solar is very efficient. You do have to invest, but if the investment is amortized over the life of the plant then the price is nowhere near 2X. And any premium may be canceled by economies of scale.

The economy must shrink somewhere to cover this added cost or the number of people must increase to maintain gdp.

It's not a zero sum game. Lots of tax paying employees in the new industries, lots of exports. Dollars that don't go into imported fuels go into more productive domestic uses. Gasoline cost shrink to almost nothing, providing extra dollars for the economy.

What it is about all of you naysayers that none of you understand economics 101? Have any of you heard of economies of scale? Sheesh. We need for all Americans to go back to school and learn economics 101, so that everyone will understand why new inventions cost more than old tech and that once economies of scale kick in, then prices plummet. None of you seem to understand this simple principle.
