Well, I don't see anything in your latest response that negates my interpretation of your words and thoughts.

The best course would be to become oil independent and make it so that we only get involved in the Middle East to expand trade of other goods and services or to help the people.

Apparently, this does not include preventing aggression..

Btw, buying and selling oil IS TRADE, "Mr. Economics wizard".. We pay them dollars for their oil.. they buy stuff from us with those dollars. We just pay out more than they buy from us which results in a trade deficit. That deficit is unhealthy, but then again we only receive 10% of our oil from the Mid-East.
