The problem now will probably be keeping the pendulum from swinging too FAR the other way. Private investors and government agencies are all going to be jumping on the regulation bandwagon and that could stifle any innovation in the financial markets. BUT, we've got a situation where probably only "10,000" people have come close to destroying the entire World's financial system (and it still may be destroyed), so you've got to expect a lot of questions to be asked and solutions (whether good or not) to be offered.
