Jack: We seem to agree on this matter. It is exciting to see the hand of God in the geologic record. For instance, studies of the level of the sea during the pleistocene and recent periods reveals that the level of the sea varied greatly until about 8,000 years ago when it suddenly leveled out and has remained stable to date. I always pointed this phenomenon out to my students as a likely evidence that God's promise to Noah was fulfilled at that time. The earth will not be destroyed by water again. So, I don't get too excited when the scientists predict disasterous floods due to the greenhouse effect. I believe that God has taken this into account and that there is a compensating mechanism at work to stabilize the level of the sea, and prevent major melting of the polar caps.
Shalom,
Lee
ps: As reference, there was a major discussion of this phenomenon in Scientific American, sometime during the '70's. I don't have the date handy.
