Who's in Charge of the Democrats?

As Kevin has noted below, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has appointed former State Attorney General Roland Burris to the Senate seat once held by President elect Obama.

There is no lack of irony that Bobby Rush- (D-Black Panther Party) has laid down the gauntlet to Senate Democrats and President elect Obama in his statement:

"I don't think any U.S. senator ... wants to go on record to deny one African-American from being seated in the U.S. Senate."
He told reporters that Senate Democrats should not "hang and lynch the appointee as you try to castigate the appointer."

This is the same Bobby Rush who, when challenged by Obama for his seat in Congress in 1999, joined with Jesse Jackson to put candidate Obama in his place during that election with these remarks, according to David Remnick:

"Jesse Jackson said that Rush "was and is an icon in the civil-rights movement" in Chicago and had established himself, first on the City Council and then in Congress. "So this relatively new guy, moving on him, didn't sit well," said Jackson, who supported Rush.

Rush did not hesitate to mock Obama as inauthentic--and, by inference, insufficiently black. "He went to Harvard and became an educated fool," Rush told the Chicago Reader during the campaign"."

So, what are we to make of the Blogo middle finger salute to the majority party in Washington and its President elect? Who is really running the Democratic Party today?

It's astounding to hear a former Black Panther Party founder lecture a Pesident elect in such a fashion. Is this a precursor to the dialogue of this next four years?

I'm sure we'll be horrified by what we learn

That wire taps worked and Barry will ignore most of his campaign promises due to the effectiveness of the bush policies combating terrorism.
