<<<Could this be DMT ADSL ? If so vendors could be Alcatel ? WSTL/Amati ? Aware ? ...>>>

<<< Information flows reach speeds of maximum 8 Mb per second to every customer and up to 600 Kb per second from the user to the net.>>>

Whenever you see speeds of "up to 8Mbps down stream and 600Kbps upstream" it indicates DMT. To my knowledge no CAP system has this range.

Checking the Belgacom webpage, there appears to be Alcatel clues more than Amati or Westell.

<<< In March 1996, a consortium of three international carriers: Ameritech, Tele Danmark and Singapore Telecom, acquired 49.9% of Belgacom.>>>

Europe telecom deregulation goes into effect on January 1, 1998, so the trial date isn't surprising.

I'd place this is Alcatel's column for now. Actually, it's rather interesting in that ALA doesn't usually enter trials. More commonly they just buy the contract.

In the end, it will all come down to who can deliver. And there'll be a place for all the top players.

Cheers!
