"Nobody voted to bail out the dealers"

and no one has actually succeeded in 'bailing' the autos out of their grave difficulties yet either.

(Their problems are far too large....)

The amount of money sent in their direction is only enough to keep them alive on life support just until Obama's team gets sworn in at the end of Jan.

All that has been done is to apply a tourniquet to try to keep the patient breathing (sort of...) for just a little while.

Kicked the can down the road (so Bush could not be blamed for the possible loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs).

As I have long argued though --- the Big Three's problems are so massive that only a federal bankruptcy court is equiped to handle them. A 'pre-packaged' Chapter 11 is most likely the best option.
