Hawk, just how will we pay for this?

I'd love for us to remain the world's police, but we simply can't afford it. Rome crumbled because it stretched itself too thin. We've done just the same thing.

We need to learn from history. We can't afford to police the whole world, unless the world agrees to pay us taxes for the benefits they receive from our policing. It's one or the other.

I suggest instead that we use a good portion of that money we spend on the military, on a trade brigade that is more focused on how to increase bilateral trade between the US and other nations, with an emphasis on striking a good bargain for the US, instead of giving away the farm as we so often do.
