Absolutely! My broker sequesters enough to cover at the option
strike. That's why I keep to short-term options, too. Just
in case a situation arises that requires these funds.

I've heard on the news, lately, that unrest is possible in
various spots worldwide, due to economic stresses. China and
Russia are mentioned prominently.

I'm also staying on the sidelines around New Year. I've seen
and been burned by overnight market/sentiment changes at New
Year. I suppose it's year-end tax selling, etc., but it still
plays havoc when you buy on 12/30 and see it tank on 1/2.(or
vice versa)
