Move Over Kindle; E-Books Hit Cell Phones

Amazon owns the content, which is what makes it work.

While all the stuff from the Gutenberg Project is available free for either Kindle or other formats, Amazon has the new stuff. Currently, over 210,000 books have been converted to Kindle format (which includes some of the Gutenberg stuff that people are selling on Amazon).

Kindle has a couple of advantages. Its screen actually uses ink to display the text, which means characters are fully formed and not hard on the eyes. And the battery life is long enough that you can read for several days between charges. If you used your cell phone for it, it probably wouldn't last long.

A great site for free material for cellphones, mobi readers, Kindles, pdf, or whatever, is manybooks.net. Lots of good old material here.
