Gaza is not lebanon and hamas is not hizbolla. Egyptians have one border shut. Israel is on the other and controls the sea. Its just a matter of time. I dont think the israelis will invade which is what hamas wants, not unless and until their ablity to fight a guerilla was has been significantly degraded. I think the tanks on the border are more or less a diversion and the air war will continue. I think the end game is to get the PA back in charge of Gaza and a PR campaign to blame all this carnage where it belongs and thats on Hamas. Will it work? Dunno---gazans supposedly want peace but also dont want israel to survive so their emotions will be mixed for sure. And Fatah has historically been corrupt and Hamas has been more pure in that regard.

Israel can't just cut off the tunnels and hope that it will solve the problem. And it probably isn't possible to lock the Gaza down tight enough to stop them either. This is absolutely true. Which leaves them with one choice, as far as I can see -- which is to kill all those with a mind to use them. Big job. Lots of dead people. Then Israel will become the Germans of the 21st century......the scourage of the world. They already have turned into monsters......inuring themselves to the wholesale death and destruction in Gaza by studiously reviewing the very occasional death or missile hit in southern Israel. They are becoming what they despise. Like with Lebanon, Israel has gained little in this assault on Gaza while continuing to lose its soul more and more.
