The article you linked to, even with its heavy anti-Israel bias, doesn't provide any proof that Israel "would suffer serious political division if they were not in constant war." All it proves is that there is a vocal political movement to keep Jerusalem ethnically "pure." So they also give off an air of "You are either with us or you are against us."
