Hi Rick. A hydrogen bomb on Old Faithful would spoil a good tourist site which I enjoyed and have three photos of the geyser going off because each time I thought it was peaking it kept going higher.

Who would want to explode a hydrogen bomb there? Perhaps somebody would benefit, but I don't know who. Osama would think it a good show but he probably lacks the means.

China and Russia could do it, but it probably wouldn't shake things loose because it would be too piffling to do much, though if at ground level, it would remove a bit of overburden, sending it into the sky and might let a lot of water turn to steam. If timed right for high tide, it might just do the trick. But if it didn't there would be a big mess for no big thrill. Plus a lot of Americans and others would get quite angry.

Let's hope it's a happier new year than Yellowstone going kaboom. I'm well clear of both Yellowstone and Taupo, so no worries here.
