The news reference was only to illustrate what freedom means, and that is to publicly voice dissent without fear of retribution. Without that you do not have freedom. Regarding "democracy", the founding fathers of the US certainly sided with you. Only men of property and European heritage (sorry) had a vote, in a government formed as a republic. This isolates power from the rabble. Over the last 140 years, the rules have changed, and we in the US have more of a true democracy, and all the demagoguery that entails, especially bread and circuses. wg
