IMO that's spot on. I think I said many of those things before the season started. Someone can go back and look at my posts but I think my general view (aside from viewing the Packer executives as idiots) was

1) Favre wouldn't have as good a year with the Jets
2) GB would have been a better TEAM with Favre
3) We'd have had a better record with Favre

I had hoped Favre would go crazy and have the year of his life - for many reasons that didn't happen and one of them is that he's 39.

What I did not expect

1) Rodgers to last through the season without missing a game
2) Rodgers to put up the numbers he did
3) Rodgers to show the upside he does - the kid looks great

We still missed Favre this year. We missed his ability to rally us at the end. IMO we'd have been a playoff TEAM with him. But the sad truth is that our defense was so poor we just weren't going to go very far.

I hate to see Favre get whacked in the press by guys like Thomas Jones and other members of the Jets. The only legend status Jones will ever achieve is in his own mind. Favre was a winner. He was a blast to watch and he helped put a dying franchise back on the map when he came to GB in 1992. Sometimes he was a victim of his own poor decisions. I truly believe had he played for a franchise that consistently operated at a high level (in player moves, drafting, coaching, etc etc) that he'd have more SB rings than the 1 he earned with GB.

Regardless of what anyone else wants to say I know what I watched for 16 years. Favre ranks right up there with the greats in my lifetime. Saying he was the best is too subjective but recognizing him as one of the best of all time seems fairly obvious. Top 5? Top 10? Doesn't matter! If he were to be considered the 10th best QB of all time I'd say that's pretty damn good
