Perhaps it's people who think this is the bottom making their 2009 retirement plan contributions and buying.

Whatever it is, it's unlikely to last when the economic data for last month starts coming out. There are also the layoff announcements, which should start picking up in the next two weeks.

The good news is that Bush and the Repiglicans are almost gone. Obama and the Demorats are about to take center stage.

Who is doing this buying?

Shorts who didn't want to realize their profits in 2008. Some of the best moves today have been on stuff that was the stinkiest last year, like RE related CEFs and high income CEFs.
