Visited Sears today. Nice display, they are carrying DISH as well as another brand - programming guide and channels seems to load faster on the DISH system. They are carrying JVC models 3500, 4500, and 5500. I ordered my system from DISH this week. Not sure what the difference is but I think my model number was 4000 (recommended to me by Data Broadcasting (DBCC - dbc.com ) for their financial data stream and coming products). The unit I saw in Sears had the standard audio and video ports as well as a separate digital video port for high-end TV monitors. I also saw a plate covering the high-speed data port. Don't know if this is an option or what (the system I ordered I know has it for sure). Sears carries the install kits for under 50$ too. Sears also has a comprehensive brochure on each of the models and details on available programming. This system will take 15$ off my cable bill, in addition to giving me digital video / audio and programming I didn't have before. Pay TV programming is also cheaper at 2.99$ (better than renting videos too).
