I think WS traders use all the tools at their disposal to nefarious ends <ggg>. There was much talk this fall about 'bear raids' on the financial stocks, I'm sure you recall all the discussion on this thread when the head of the SEC issued that infamous rule banning short selling of several hundred financial issues several months back. There are many stories about the colorful characters who colluded to smash stocks in the early part of the last century when there wasn't much oversight to speak of.
