A silver miner died in Aspen two days ago.

Jim Blanning was the mans name that placed the bombs at the banks in Aspen. Blanning had a history in Aspen of fighting the powers that be. He was considered one of the "colorful" locals that believed in the old Aspen and tried to keep the rich and famous out by acting out. He was one of the last of breed of individualists that did not believe in normal life. He and others like him are what helped make Aspen interesting to the rich and famous.

Blanning did time in Canon City for trying to sell surface real estate after filing mining claims under the ground. He had studied Colorado mining laws and claimed his rights to the surface were allowed by mining law. The local real estate agents wanted him OUT OF ASPEN and he was arrested for RICO law charges. He was found guilty and sentenced to a minimum of 16 years which had ended a few years ago. He never forgave the powerful of Aspen.

Local "old Aspen" folks knew him to be a friend and helpful to anyone that needed it.

So much to this story. Blanning was OUT THERE. But he meant to shake things up. It seemed like he knew exactly what the outcome would be and knew he would not get the money and would end up dying. He knew the attention he would get. It was the busiest day of the year in Aspen. He knew he would probably not make it past the end of the day.

It makes me wonder how many people will get his point?

There could be an entire thread about this one event and the point our society has reached.

Then again we could just dismiss him as a "CRAZY F*CK" and laugh it off.

Jim Blanning was sending us a message. How many of us hear it?

Jim Blanning was "colorful" in a freedom sort of way. When men like him die part of America dies.

I hope he finds lots of silver in whatever hills he roams now.

RIP Jim Blanning.

and for you "law and order" types. there is more to life than law and order. so go get f***ed. you might enjoy it. i believe blanning was sending a message to WAKE UP!

Slider, I thought you and other folks here might enjoy Karl Denninger's thoughts on where we are and the up coming year.

market-ticker.denninger.net

Pretty much in line with my thoughts, with the exception I expect much increased violence in the cities. He thinks too much Prozac is why we the people haven't revolted already, I would say look n o further than you water source for the cause of inactivity-Floride, the nazis new of it effect on folks.

One of the must haves going forward is seeds, preferably old time varieties.

Dave.
