The ultimate solution is the deleveraging, bankruptcies and foreclosures, and finally an increase in savings. This can't be avoided.

Agree.

An item which is easily forgotten is the fact that even if the present crisis were not upon us, the coming fiscal crisis created by the incredible amount of unfunded liabilities taken on by the Federal government would be crippling in its own right. At the rate the government was going, its liabilities were so huge that it would be spending vast sums on them within a couple of decades, leaving necessary infrastructure, education and other productive projects unfunded. The latest assumption of debt has made things practically impossible unless the unfunded liabilities are recognized for the fiction which they are.
