Considering I was in Iraq for 2 years and you weren't, I think I have a better grasp of history in that region than yourself. Saddam should have been overthrown in 1991 if only to preserve the precedent that such naked aggression would not be permitted by the UNSC. We had the forces, and the result likely would have been even more favorable since we didn't, at that time, have the organized threat of Al Qaida able to play an active role there. Iran was in violation of the NPT for 17 years and it's been appeasers, like yourself, who have CONSISTENTLY UNDERMINED the mandate of the UNSC when it comes to enforcing international non-proliferation treaties. There are binding resolutions against Iran as well, just as there were against Iraq, but people of your ilk are the ones who are responsible for permitting Tehran's intransigence in the face of international demands to open up their nuclear program to full inspection. Iran has more power to undermine regional stability because pussy-footed policy approaches such as yours bent upon appeasing aggression and subversion by radical islamist regimes. Had Saddam been overthrown in 1991, it's likely that Iraq would have fallen into the same political orbit that it appears to be entering now, poised to confront the Persian threat to the region. There also would be far more oil in circulation due to 17 years of exploration, development and exploitation. As it stands right now, Iran is effectively surrounded by US and NATO forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are hardly in a position to make much trouble without incurring serious repercussions. Hawk
