Yes, but trying to explain things like synchronous sampling and aliasing to a mathematically illiterate person is hopeless.

You are also correct that for most people, they should replace the data labels with something from another field (like financial or health related instead of climate) so they can divorce the data from their ideological biases. I often use that stunt myself, and in fact, I try to pick labels where my biases are reversed, so I get a differential bias reality check. Very useful...

Oops, forgot to point out that your graph is global, not arctic. That is a very significant difference for a number of reasons. You need to look at arctic data to really see what scientists are talking about.
