Clearly base metal plays will react upward with the bear market rallies taking places. But I think that until the global recession ends, gold is the only growth area.

And if this recessions becomes a true depression, you will see base metals at new lows, possibly 50% below current prices. This could happen rapidly and prices would not stay that low for a long time. The following bull in 2010 or so will be furious. But, for now, I prefer to stand aside and work with pure gold (or silver) plays.

I may be wrong, but that is how I am playing this market.
