You and I see this in exactly the same way. I think that our support is actually preventing Israel from reaching some kind of accommodation with their neighbors. I think as long as one settlement or military outpost exists in the Pal designated areas, Israel should not get a dime from us.

OK, but what about the "we're trying to get them to stop fighting each other" part?

Personally, I don't see any way in which we're ever going to "wash our hands" of the whole thing, despite the fantasies of some. Even if we halted all aid to Israel and Palestine, we're still going to be viewed as being on the side of Israel. After all, Israel uses American-made war machines, no?

So let's say you're in the Oval Office. What would you do, what outcome would you expect, and what would be the conditions for you changing course?
