Agree. The SEC is a huge part of the problem, they are coopted and ineffective. They ought to 1) ban all SEC workers from revolving into wall st. jobs 2) raise budgets and staffing and 3) raise pay scales. If there is a well-run, activist SEC none of the worst of the abuses of the past 8 years takes place, IMO.

Their point about the rating agencies was well-taken, too. They should be paid by investors, not by those selling the paper. Or go away entirely.
