Foreign wife helps against home bias. If you "favor your home market, which you understand better" people who had taken a foreign wife is in much better position to ride a downturn.

That because the guy has had a foot out there and have gained another perspective on foreign because he's got a foot in that foreign land.

Another guy who is also in a better potion is the road warrior who had knowledge of how things work abroad and have cashed in on his over inflated house in the UK and moved elsewhere before the Pound and the house prices collapsed.

Here in Elmat's thread the value one gets is to gain the perspective without having to to be out there.
