Who says I 'want' anything? It seems to me that the way I describe things is the way they probably are, but I cannot vouch for their reliability because no one I think really knows.

You apparently do not comprehend that the web of derivatives is so complex that single events are covered by multiple instruments, thereby magnifying losses. One domino falling and all that.

Please, please, go read something by Das, anything, please acquire some background rather than inventing it.

By the way, I use notional not nominal values, which may source of confusion. Why notional? Because in blow-ups, they are the ones that make matter.
